King European Tribute Finalist

THE MAGIC OF ELVIS
Celebrity tribute artist Marshall
King
has touched many hearts with
his deep velvety voice
Marshall King
This big-hearted crooner’s
natural talent for emulating
great performers – Elvis
Presley is winning him plenty
of publicity and he has a following
even from across the Atlantic.
There have already been several
requests for him to go and perform
in the USA and, as a finalist
in the European Elvis Tribute
Championships in both 2005 and
2006, he has recently been featured
on both BBC1 and Sky TV.
Marshall King has spent 18
years on stage which shows in
his performances
a Natural Born Entertainer
Marshall spent a year studying
every piece of Elvis footage
he could get hold of. watching
a hundred hours of film, a hundred
times over and also adding to
the performance his own character
and personality which he has
a natural gift of stage presents
and crowd interaction.
Marshall’s wears only
the best tailored costumes ,when
he appears on stage the transformation
is remarkable. His many outfits,
all custom-made in the USA,
span the black leathers of Presley’s
comeback in 1968 to the white
jumpsuits of the later Vegas
shows and are exact copies ‘stone
for stone, stud for stud’
as the originals. There are
accessories to match, including
sunglasses made by Elvis’s
personal optician.
Though Marshall does perform
Elvis as a GI and sings some
of his songs from the fifties
and sixties, he prefers to specialise
in the seventies,
Last year, Marshall was befriended
by Elvis’s hairdresser
and close friend, Larry Geller
who in Elvis’s last years
had moved into his home, Gracelands.
Larry was a judge on the Panel
at the European Championships
and made a point of telling
Marshall how much his look,
voice and general presence reminded
him of Elvis. ‘Please
keep the memory of my dearest
friend alive,’ Mr Geller
had said – a promise Marshall
vows to keep.
